We at The Evening Hatch would like
to express our appreciation for your business by creating more "Riverside

Lets face it, all of our friends should have the opportunity to experience
Fly Fishing at its best with the Evening Hatch. If you have any friends,
family or co-workers that have been interested in Fly Fishing, feel
free to share their e-mail address/contact info with us. Dustin (the
scheduling manager) or my self (Jack) will get in touch with them regarding
a trip for 2012. In return, on confirming a new trip from your referral
we will give you 10% off your next fishing trip with us!

Product Review

The
Rage Compact - This is a new line by Airflo that was designed for dry
tips. We give the line a two thumbs up for 'multi tips'. The key on
this line is not to over line as so many are doing now days in all scenarios.
I have a 420 Grain Rage Compact on a 13'7" Guideline Lecie and
I am able to toss a dry tip as well as a 10 foot chunk of T-14. So the
line is ' kindof ' a hybrid between a Compact Scandi and a Skagit. The
Rage Compact tosses all tips well! The one downside for the Rage is
it does not toss heavily weighted flies well.
It
is currently on my favorite rod and it is going to stay there!

Tip
Swing
tip -
'Tip
position' on the hang down can increase the odds of an unencumbered
hang down when using sink tips. To elaborate... If on the hang the fly
is grabbing bottom a bit, but throughout the swing you are not, then
one suggestion is as the fly comes to the hang down hold the tip of
the rod out at a 90 degree and slightly raise the tip. Inmost cases
this will allow a sink tip and fly to hang down without 'hanging up'....

Here's a little diddy...
Single spey over right shoulder. Two steps.
Lewis Woodpecker hunting for bugs. Fall
colors transcend into the afternoon and as the light fades, the vibrancy
is real and crisp. Nice run, littered with basketball plus size boulders
and mostly subsurface. A cascade deer grazes on the new growth as the
winter grass emerges like an October Caddis, just slower.
The fly swings to the hang, one strip, single spey over right shoulder,
two steps. How many fish are in this run? I need to stop my tip travel
sooner while forming my d-loop. I wish I had a long belly on right now.
The sun has set and the fall colors don't look as sharp. Quit mending,
let'r swing. Thanksgiving is going to be fun with the whole family...
What should I get the kids for Christmas? What should I get for my wife?
Snake roll over left shoulder; man that sucked.
Oh well, let'r swing. There's a whack, let that loop go, Fish-on! Fish-off!
Oh well, I found her.
Single spey over right shoulder, Two Steps.

Help the
Kettle

Resources are limited in this world. Why deplete them
to extinction and then look back and wonder? Teach the kids to catch
fish with single barbless hooks and no bait. Honestly, the Kettle river
fishes quite well with a single barbless hook on a Castmaster, Blue
fox spinner or a fly. If taking a fish home is needed, then have a slot
limit as it does now. The Kettle river is a little gem in the corner
of Washington; It would be a shame to see it's trout population decreased
because a few people think that bait should be allowed again and that
selective rules are elitist?
The Kettle river already has enough problems
as it is; Low water in the late summer and warm water temps to name
a few. The indigenous Rainbows are Columbia Native Redbands, 'pretty
cool fish', that have withstood the test of time, in a great corner
of the state. Let's keep it that way. Say no to the deregulation of
selective rules on the Kettle River.
