Summer 2009 News

Tip of the Month-

Do you have Mendenitis?

Mendenitis defined - A term referring to the affliction of constantly manipulating your line voluntarily or involuntarily causing your fly to waggle about unnecessarily.

Why mend your fly when you don't need to? Often times with a properly presented fly utilizing reach casts, parachute casts, lift and drops , a drag mend, feeding the line or a combination of the aforementioned, an actual mend is not needed.

The biggest challenge for the angler is surmising the need for any technique to be applied with the situation at hand - based on currents and desired presentation. Although there are general rules as to when an angler should mend or feed etc... ultimately the final say is the current at hand!
