Tip
Winter
nymphing for trout is not always in the slow/deep water as many profess.
Often times I find trout in the shallow riffles adjacent to a large
hole especially when there are stonefly and midges active. Many times
you will find trout nudged up into the faster water picking off insects.
In fact I have actually seen their backs out of the water in certain
situations.
When
nymphing with an indicator we suggest using 3/4 the depth of the water
from your indicator to your fly. The old rule of 1.5 times the depth
does not make sense in a 'free drift' application. Free drift refers
to the unencumbered nymphal drift of certain insects in the water
column. When an insect is in 'free drift' the insect is generally
not on the bottom, more so the insect is somewhere near mid column.
This nymphal drift is extremely important for a number of insects
at specific times of year. In the immediate future on the Yakima,
the Skwala Stone Fly 'free drift' is KEY.

~ Bill Gates ~
This
should be posted in every school or kid's bedroom. Love him or hate
him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this.!!! Bill Gates recently
gave a speech at a High School about eleven (11) things they did not
and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically
correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of
reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule
1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world
will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about
yourself.
Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school.
You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss
Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents
had a different word for burger flipping: They called it opportunity.
Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine
about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they
are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes
and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were: So
before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's
generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but
life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades
and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer.
*This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers
off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF.
*Do that on your own time.
Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually
have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for

Common
Fishing Glove Materials:
Neoprene
Fleece
Gore tex
Leather
Wool
Or the combination of 1 to 3 of the above materials
Over
the years of fishing during the 'cold season' I have tried many different
gloves for battling the 'numb hands factor'. Why argue with nature's
solution... Wool. Day in and day out when dealing with moisture, the
wool glove has served me better then any other hand warming attire.
Even when wet, they 'are the ticket'.
The
fist model shown with the full fingers is the model that offers the
least finger dexterity. All gloves that have fingers will prove to be
difficult when fishing. However, the fully fingered wool is a reasonable
option.
My favorite style is the fingerless option shown in the middle. The
upside of this style is no constriction with the fingers and it is almost
as if you don't have a pair of gloves on. The down side is the end of
your fingers do not have coverage.
The
third model on the right is often the choice of the angler as it allows
finger dexterity and if one gets 'tooo cooold' the 'Converta-Mitt' can
be pulled over and provide warmth. Fishing with this converta-mitt function
is 'kinda tough'.
There
you have it from us to you...Wool is #1 in our book.

he is actually adding to his professional repertoire as a Real Estate
Broker. Rory spent 4 years with us and 5 years as a charter boat captain

he will be a great asset to Keller Williams as well. If you are ever

How to Lock Your Car
and Why?
I locked my car. As I walked away I heard
my car door unlock. I went back and locked my car again, three times.
Each time, as soon as I started to walk away, I would hear it unlock
again!!
Naturally alarmed, I looked around and there were two guys sitting in
a car in the fire lane next to the store. They were obviously watching
me intently, and there was no doubt they were somehow involved in this
very weird situation.
I quickly chucked the errand I was on, jumped in my car and sped away.
I went straight to the police station, told them what had happened,
and found out I was part of a new, and very successful, scheme being
used to gain entry into cars.
Two weeks later, my friend's son had a similar happening.... While traveling,
my friend's son stopped at a roadside rest to use the bathroom. When
he came out to his car less than 4-5 minutes later, someone had gotten
into his car and stolen his cell phone, laptop computer, GPS navigator,
briefcase.....you name it. He called the police and since there were
no signs of his car being broken into, the police told him he had been
a victim of the latest robbery tactic -- there is a device that robbers
are using now to clone your security code when you lock your doors on
your car using your key-chain locking device..
They sit a distance away and watch for
their next victim. They know you are going inside of the store, restaurant,
or bathroom and that they now have a few minutes to steal and run. The
police officer said to manually lock your car door-by hitting the lock
button inside the car -- that way if there is someone sitting in a parking
lot watching for their next victim, it will not be you.
When you hit the lock button on your
car upon exiting, it does not send the security code, but if you walk
away and use the door lock on your key chain, it sends the code through
the airwaves where it can be instantly stolen. This is very real.
Be wisely aware of what you just read
and please pass this note on.
Look how many times we all lock our doors with our remote just to be
sure we remembered to lock them -- and bingo, someone has our code...and
whatever was in our car.

Movie Review
National
Lampoon's
Christmas Vacation1/2
Rated
PG-13
Starring
Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo-This classic came out in 1989 and for
the past 5 years we have made it a tradition to watch it at least once
during the holiday season. This classic comedy is 'somewhat family oriented'
and is obviously an inspiration for our modern day comics.
Starring
Jason Bateman, Ryan Reynolds and Olivia Wilde - Jenn and I laughed our
butts off in this modern day comedy where two grown men who have been
friends from childhood 'wish their lives were the others' and after a
night of drinks and a magic fountain they end up in each other's body;
You can only imagine the rest. Well maybe not; we suggest you watch and
see. There are a few un-needed vulgar comedic stunts that could have been
left out, regardless, we found it fun. Rated R for definite adult language,
humor and nudity....This is certainly not for the kids.
Starring Tom Hanks and
Julia Robert. We found the movie to be fun, pleasant and refreshing. The
reviews on this movie have been all over the board, mostly 'Not so Good'.
Tom Hanks makes his second directorial debut in this romantic comedy and
although the movie does not 'lift you off your feet' it fall within the
"pleasant factor'
This is a must see, but you have to watch
it. There is no 'browsing' this movie or you will miss the subtleties
and the depth of the movie. Nick Nolte, Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton star
in this Drama/Action and their acting is great. The supporting cast is
also very strong in this tale of a dysfunctional family and the ramifications
and rewards gathered in the attempt to 'align the pain'
