Report Feb 11, 2004
The waters are
incredibly favorable as we speak. It looks as though the
rain that is predicted for the Forks area Friday and Saturday
is fairly light and the rivers should hold!

Report Feb 8, 2004
Well, although
mother nature looked like things were favorable for the
weekend, the majority of the big rivers were out. The
smaller streams were somewhat favorable and guess what......we
got a few!

Should see some
good to great fishing here shortly. Water is
dropping in as we speak and most like this last deluge
squirted some more natives through the bocas.

Report Jan 28, 2004
The 21-26th was
great fishing on the coast. In the last 36 hours the
rivers have inflated quite a bit. As we speak the
rivers seem to have peaked and look as though they will start
dropping assuming the rain stops. The fishing should be
good to great when the rivers come back in if the last 5 days
are any indication; Over the last week, 70% of the fish
caught were wild!

Report Jan 26, 2004
There are
definitely wild fish to be had on the coast. Gus and
Jeff both agree this is earlier than normal in comparison to
the last few years. All the rivers are in good shape and
techniques range from swinging slow and low to nymphing.
The report from the last couple days has been gooooood!

Report Jan 25, 2004
Oh my, my
last report was certainly correct. The Rivers have been
in for the last couple days and there are most definitely 'Wild
Fish a Showin'. Jeff Brazda has been on the coast
for two days and the reports were favorable. Jeff's
knowledge of the steelhead water in this State is frickin
remarkable. While many may know one, two, three or even
more systems, I could almost say Jeff knows all of them!
This is obviously not the truth , but he know a
great
number of them and he continues to amaze me with the knowledge
he has of the various watersheds and the metalheads that
inhabit them. Short of listing some of the things he
does all I can say is...." trust your guide" .......

Plain and
simple...this looks like a great weekend to be fishing for
chromers on the coast as all the watersheds
according to graphs are looking great.

Report Jan 17, 2004
After a typical surge of rain
and " a rivers a risin" the waters surrounding Forks are
looking good for the weekend. The Bogy continues
to produce numbers of hatchery fish. This action should
slow over the next two weeks and the target will be the wild
fish as they are starting to show. Get your dates on the
calendar now for some wild fish!

Report Jan 12, 2004
Almost all the rivers are in
good shape....as of today. A second wave of hatchery
fish have showed to keep everyone on the Bogy and Calawah
rowing. There are most certainly a few natives biting
here and there as well! We currently have someone out on
the coast almost daily, so come spend a day with us waterside
for some chromers!

Report Jan 3, 2004
There are a few nice wild
Steelhead in the Hoh River and in the Sol-Duc River but not in
any real numbers yet. The primary beat has been the good old
Bogachiel River AKA "Boga slough", and we have been beating up
on those Bogey Brats with great abandon. Jeff Brazda "The Braz"
has been King of the river recently, he landed 6 yesterday on
both the 2 handed Shwing stick and on the nympho rod.

Report Dec 20, 2003
The fly
fishing report for the Olympic Peninsula right now can be
summed up in short order. It has been an exceptionally good
season for WDFG hatchery Winter Steelhead, the bolus of the
Steelhead are in the last 1.5 miles of the Calawah River above
the confluence of the Bogachiel and in the Bogachiel River
from Grader creek down stream to the G-3000 bridge. This is
were 75% of all the Steelhead are located right now and they
are very bright 5-12lb hatchery fish. The Quinault/Queets
river area report is that Cook creek and Salmon River are also
stuffed with Steelhead right now but you will need a Quinault
Nation fishing guide to access these waters. We had 9
Steelhead pinned and landed 6 yesterday! All were on the basic
nymphing technique, we did not touch a fish swinging , I
believe due to the fact that water is a bit on the chilly side
@ 42 degrees and dropping right now. There are a few nice wild
Steelhead starting to show up in the Sol-Duc and Bogachiel
rivers and I'm sure there are excellent numbers of Hatchery
fish in the Hoh River, but it has basically been unfishable
for a while due to inclement weather, real typical for
December.

According to the Gusmeister "The Dark Swede" there are a
few Steelhead brats rolling in on the coast...Specifically the

been good on various waters recntly!

The
natives have certainly been worthy over the last week.
In fact I have been getting 3-5 hookups a day with the fly;
Mostly 10-14 pounders but did manage to land an 18 pound hen!
The fishing has been steady and should continue for the next
week with the weather patterns that we have showing.

Ended up fishing only one day as the rivers went by the
wayside...hooked a couple chromers that day on the
xx????!!!!! river. One was a 35 inch mint bright
fish! Currently the waters are not so good. After
this push of water the fishing ought to be pretty special!
Big wild natives.....oh yeah.

On
the coastal waters for the next three days....report coming
soon!!
Coastal Steelhead Report Feb 23,
2003
The
sudden cold snap slowed the action a bit this week, but we
managed 4 hookups on Monday. We bank fished some small stuff
on the coast. Started out slow but with a quick change of
rivers (the advantage of a walk fishery) found fish willing to
bite. Note that Cliffs (Clifton von Munchausen ) first fish is
a nice fresh hatchery fish. Landed two others with one lost.
Flies of the day were egg suckers and a flash fly, yes a flash
fly from the salmon box. Will be fishing on the east side the
rest of the week. Remember to check those regs as some waters
will be closing at the end of Feb. As well as some extensions
like the Humptulips, the last I heard they were keeping it
open. Next week I will be coastal for some early March fishing
on the Duc and Hoh, might even hike into the Hoko.
good fishing,,,,,Braz
Coastal Steelhead Report, Feb 3 thru
Feb 8 and Feb 11
In 6 days of fishing I landed
13 and lost 5. Started the week on the small waters for great
wade fishing and hooked five in one day, one 38 incher! Tue,
Wed, Thur on the Hoh for what I would call good fishing for
large fish; all fish were over 13lbs, landed fish to 18+ lbs
mostly chrome or with a touch of color. Friday some cronies
(is that how you spell it?) arrived and we fished the Hoko,
kind of slow there landed one bruiser of 15punds or so. Saturday
we ventured back to the Hoh for two hookups, one with a big
racing stripe of at least 15 lbs and naturally the
incredibly big chromer got away.
Tuesday the 11th Chris Meyer and I fished spawner heaven,
the beloved but crowded NOOCH(Wynoochee). We hooked 7 steelys,
but I say hooked because we only landed 3. It was like a bad
dream, fish biting where they should but falling off as if
we were using rubber hooks. Naturally the chromers got away
but we have a nice pic of a decent hen.
The coastal fishing appears to be over that dreaded hatchery
fish thing that throws off the season ( those fish are so
undependable ). The big and vicious natives are here and should
peak around the 3rd week of March depending on which system
you fish. Steelhead Pics!
Good fishing, Jeff
Coastal Report Feb 3, 2003
The rivers are dropping into beautiful
shape as we speak: The wild ones are starting to show! The
hatchery fish were certainly a dissapointment but it looks
as though we will be seeing a few wild chromers as our head
guide found a few in the last day or so!!!!
Jan 31, 2003
Going, Gone....Looks as though around
Wednesday the waters on the coast may be worthy; If all holds
true with the weather report.
January 28, 2003
The coastal waters are currently dropping
and clearing. Barring any changes in weather the next week
should be ok if conditions stay the same!!!! fish-on The Hatch
Jan 11, 2003 Peninsula Report
Overall the fishing on the coastal waters
is slow. A few fish are being
caught here and there but the numbers are not there. Cross
your fingers for
a good wild run during the months of February, March and April.
We were
able to scratch up hooking three chromers, 4 hatchery spawners
and some
dollies in three days fishing by foot. Unfortunately the chromers
got the
best of us and we aren't able to give you visuals on the "steel"
The waters were in good shape and on
the drop. Included are a few pics from
the trip!

The upcoming forecast is calling for
clear days, cold nights and no precipitation! The rivers are
dropping remarkably fast and should have some eaters over
the next few days. Techniques lately have mostly been nymph
techniqes with a sink tip and/or dry line. Short, sweet and
slow for the presentation. We will have a crew on the water
for the next 4 days and will update after!
