El
Patagon

El Patagon
provides you with a once in a lifetime fly-fishing experience. Our
trout waters are just about the best an angler will ever experience.
Nearby, the fishing is the stuff dreams are made of. You'll encounter
large numbers of fish and many large fish as well.

At El Patagon we offer our anglers many choices. Our prime fishing
is on six rivers, four lakes and saltwater estuaries. Abundant water
flow in the spring allows us to float our smaller rivers and as
the season progresses, low water levels encourage more wading. Many
of our waters were not regularly fished until we developed new techniques
and brought in specialized boats. As is the case at Yan Kee Way
Lodge, you'll fish from the most productive platforms on all waters
and in all conditions during the season.
In short,
you fish water around El Patagon that others can't access. We do
have float tubes and offer walk/wade trips for those who enjoy them.
In fact, one of our smaller rivers here is reached by a very pleasant
horseback ride and involves no boats at all.

Both beginning and advanced anglers will enjoy fly-fishing with
us here. Anglers new to the sport, you'll have the potential to
catch more wild fish than would be possible on a well-stocked trout
farm! With proficient casting skills, an angler can (and most likely
will) catch a number of trophy trout. Dry and wet flies yield equally
well. Thus, use the fishing style that you enjoy the most. Depending
on when you are here, you may have the chance to see "white-out"
caddis storms. It pays to listen to your guides and cast some of
the flies they have specially created for this area.
Your typical day begins at 7:30 AM with a hearty breakfast. Next,
we shuttle you to your destination for a full day of fishing in
our jungle-like surroundings. Travel times are from 2minutes to
90 minutes.
On some days, fishing starts right out in front of the lodge. At
mid-day we'll have a waterside lunch, prepared either on the river
or pre-packaged to your order. Our lunch spots are carved out of
the temperate rainforest, and provide a pleasant and beautiful setting.
This is definitely a "bring your camera" trip.
Dinner is served at 8 PM and therefore we are off the water between
5:30 and 6:30 PM depending on the day's shuttle time. Your dining
and gathering place is a 30-foot diameter yurt. You'll find it striking
and comfortable. Our kitchen was designed in the U.S., containerized
and shipped to Chile, where your meals are prepared by our chefs
for your dining pleasure.
Before and/or after dinner, those who are interested may make use
of our fly tying station. If you would rather sit in the hot tub
overlooking the river and/or take a sauna, the choice is yours.
On your last evening with us, you'll enjoy a typical Patagonian
style asado or barbecue, cooked over open coals.
El Patagon is sited on 3,000 private acres of temperate rainforest.
The grounds extend for several miles along the Figueroa River and
front a mile of Lago Rosselot. These cabins were designed with your
comfort in mind. You'll find great beds, down comforters, comfortable
furniture, oriental rugs, fluffy towels and endless hot water, and
there's a special drying room for your fishing gear and clothing.
What more could one ask for in the middle of nowhere?
