Bridges, Montana
For
the 2008 season, The Evening Hatch will continue offering Southwest
Montana as one of its adventure destinations. Our “hosted trip”
this coming spring will be from May 10th to May 22nd. The Big Hole,
The Madison, The Jefferson, The Beaverhead, and The Ruby are all
well within striking distance of our location in Twin Bridges.
Five
years ago, one of our top guides, Dan “Rooster” Leavens
moved to Twin Bridges – a sleepy little cow town smack dab
in the middle of Blue Ribbon trout country. A town of 400, it’s
known in the fly fishing community as a happening place. This is
the home of the R.L. Winston Rod Company, and many more trout than
people.
Last
years trip was a great success, catching the heat of the Mothers
Day Caddis hatch on the Big Hole, we saw great numbers of rising
fish and solid numbers of fish to the fly each day. In fact, the
fishing was so good; we never made it to another river. Bob Chadwell,
one of our guests quoted over dinner one night – “We fished
three different rivers, all with the same name!!” With over
100 miles of water to cover on that river alone, there was no reason
to leave it last spring. Keep in mind however that we just scratched
the surface, there are miles and miles of water that we never saw.

This
years trip will be hosted by , Jack Mitchell. Accompanying me on
the sticks will be Rooster and his Stonefly Inn Crew. Our headquarters
will be The Stonefly Inn, centrally located in Twin Bridges, walking
distance to restaurants and anything else you might need. Rate includes
all lodging, guiding and lunches. note-Each cabin has it's own kitchen.
