Cast-And-Blast

We currently offer two options that can be combined with fishing in the same day and/or fishing the following day. Costs vary depending on the combinations of services - Please call for more specifics re: packages!

The first option is to hunt for game farm released pheasant on a private hunting ranch located 2 minutes from our shop and on the Yakima river. Season is from August 1 to Jan 30. The hunt is guaranteed action and is designed for a fun successful outing. This hunt time for this adventure is about 3.5 hours and can easily be combined with fishing in the same day!

Secondly and in addition to our upland game hunting and cast and blast opportunities, we now offer fully outfitted and guided waterfowl hunts in the Columbia Basin.

One of our top flyfishing guides, Dan "Rooster" Leavens, brings to us 10 years of waterfowl guiding experience in the Pacific Northwest. Dan's guiding partner, Troy Taylor, is the founder of Taylor Talker Game calls, and has won or placed in the Washington State Duck Calling Championship 4 years in a row. Troy took this year off from the competition circuit to concentrate on guiding and his call building business.

Whatever your interest, be it mallards with their feet down over decoys, or big Canadian geese hovering over your blind, Dan and Troy can get the job done. These duckaholics have a knack for what we call "freelancing" waterfowl. Dan is a Coast Guard licensed captain and makes good use of his custom-built 17-foot Svendsen jet sled. They watch the weather patterns, the water levels, the winds, and use all of these factors to determine the area you may hunt. You may find yourself hunting with them in the maze of sand dunes on the Potholes reservoir, up against the majestic bluffs of the Columbia River, or a small farm pond that isn't even on the map.

In addition to the vast reaches of water Washington offers to duck hunters, we also have hunting rights to over 7,800 acres of cropland. Most of this land is in the northern reaches of the Columbia Basin, one of the major staging areas for both mallards and Canadian geese. When the weather gets cold and the birds are forced to feed more than once a day, you can bet Dan and Troy will have more than one scenario to choose from. It could be hunting big honkers out of a pit in the winter wheat, shooting mallards and geese in eliminator style blinds in fields of corn, or maybe a little bit of both.

So if frosty mornings coupled with sounds of whistling wings, the sweet smell of Hoppes no. 9, a hot cup of coffee, and the opportunity to watch some excellent dog work by Dan's Labradors sounds like a good way to spend an autumn day, give us a call and Schedule a date!

For all Fall hunting and Cast N Blast options we recommend accommodations at our riverside camp.

Itineraries can be modified and custom built to your needs and as listed above the costs will vary depending on the combination of service. Prices range from $250-$400 per day; per person/double occupancy. Our fishing and hunting guides are professional, courteous, first aid trained, weather tattered, sun marked, polarized sun glass and polypropylene wearing, genuine hunting and fishing bums; and they are ready to show you the best of what we have to offer!
