Some
would say that the Fall fishing on the Yakima is the best of the
best. This time of year allows the angler to use a variety of
techniques successfully. Nymphing can be automatic, casting little
dry flies to rising fish is a highlight that happens quite often,
dead drifting and skating large October Caddis can produce vicious
strikes and swinging/stripping streamers can almost be steelhead
like!
Fall has started here in the valley! The colors are slowly evolving
and the wildlife is abundant. The river is at low volume allowing
the angler to fish by foot at endless locations as opposed to
a limited few.
Somewhere around the end of October, a majority of the anglers
stop fishing the Yakima. Unfortunately they miss out on some of
the most intense fishing of the Fall as November and December
can be remarkable!
