Fishing smart and hard… Imagine the Possibilities

The in class session will be held at the Evening Hatch Fly shop. The school will directly cover the local entomology (insects), river access points, river history, fly patterns, fly presentation, proper equipment, fishing the hatches, reading water, and much more. Casting instruction and the most basic fly fishing skills can be covered by request more personally on the river by one of our guides the following day. There will be a fantastic slide show to assist in demonstrating most topics.

We will cover all major and most minor hatches that occur throughout the entire season. Learn the dates, times, location, and water types of these emergences and expand your knowledge. The entomology section will also include a chance to see the actual insects and what patterns you can use for imitations. Learn where to fish. The classroom session will also provide you with a thorough briefing on where to access the river at different points for wade fishing and/or floating and what works for each time of year.

Learn about the history and development of this fantastic catch and release fishery and the changes that it has endured throughout the past two decades. Fly patterns, a specific section on patterns will include the once in a lifetime opportunity to see what the guides use, no photos please. Check out some our sacred specialties and learn when, where, and how to fish them. There will also be a special section on equipment. Rod weights, line types, sinking lines, leaders, tippets, strike indicators, tools, clothing, sunglasses, etc. will all be covered in class. A discussion on reading water, and how to fish different types of water will be given also.

All of this priceless and secret information absorbed in class will then be put to the test as you take on the Yakima with one of our guides the following day. Our guides will exemplify the classroom information on the river and show you how to put your knowledge to work. Reading water, presentation, and insect identification will be taken to a new level as you explore just how good you can be. The expert instruction on casting, line handling, and fly presentation will complete your fly fishing repertoire revolutionizing the novice anglers and finely honing the experts. Give yourself the opportunity to excel, and have a whole bunch of fun learning the ins and outs of this incredible Blue Ribbon Fishery! The Yakima School is a 'must do' for all anglers.

The cost for the classroom portion and a full day of guided fishing with lunch is only $195. We can help with lodging arrangements if needed. We look forward to helping you learn!
