How to build an effective Nymph Leader! Note: This leader is designed for moving water western streams/rivers; this leader is generally not for crystal clear spring creek type waters.

The goal when nymphing is to get your nymphs to the desired depth as quickly as possible. Most western trout streams avg 2-5ft in depth and therefore most of your nymph depths will range between 2-5 feet assuming the angler is able to achieve slack line drifts.

This leader is designed to hinge. Hinging leaders are not the most enjoyable to cast but are very effective for 'nymph drop'

The Dimensions of a hinging nymph leader, 9 feet in length.

**We suggest using flourocarbon on the mid and terminal section.
***The Terminal sections vary in diameter depending on water clarity and selectivity of the watershed

Split shot placement (if needed) is above the 10" piece of the terminal section. This keeps the split shot from sliding down the leader toward the fly.

Indicator placement is above any of the knots from the begining of the Mid section to the begining of the Terminal section; Hence offering depths @

Tip of the month - 'The Skwala Twitch' - Over the years we have learned a few things, forgot some, remembered some that we have forgot... but one that doesn't drop out of the memory banks is the Skwala Twitch. Fishing the Skwala nymph under an indicator, straight line nymphing or the dry on the surface has always been a great hatch to start the season. Imparting slight twitches here and there on your fly, all the while continuing the slack line drift, will at times induce great response from pre spawn hungry rainbows!

That's all for now...Do not hesitate to give us a jingle at anytime! We are happy to answer any of your questions.

Wishing you the best for the 2008 season,

Respectfully, waterside and river ramblin,
