Upper
Columbia River / Kettle River Fly Fishing Guides For
the past 18 years we have been investigating (that means fishing) the
northeast corner of Washington, and we pioneered
the guiding on the Upper Columbia in Washington. The Upper Columbia
is one of the better kept secrets in the lower 48. The Upper
Columbia sports incredible insect hatches seasonally. Water temps
on the river range from 40-65 degrees year round, providing great
habitat throughout the season for insect propagation. While the hatches
are not guaranteed day in and day out, the trout are at times incredibly
tuned into the surface which makes for great fun. Tactics vary from
the late winter/ early spring fishing using single hand and spey swing
tactics to the June /July hatch season featuring blizzard Caddis, strong
Green/Brown Drakes and Yellow Mays, to the late summer/fall hatches
of October Caddis, Baetis, Yellow Mayflies and terrestrials. The
predominant target fish on the Columbia is the Rainbow trout. The average
rainbow trout is approximately 18-19 inches/ 2.5 to 3 pounds.
There are Cutthroat in the system and we catch them often.
We
also fish various watersheds in conjunction with the Upper Columbia
including the Kettle river We offer day trips at $450 per day and we offer overnight trips featuring 'Black Bear Lodge' - Photo Sampler of lodge, scenery, fish and fun - We cannot get any closer to the river, The lodge provides us with convenience and comfort, a GREAT place to stay and tell stories about the one that "got away". Lodging is based on two people per room. 2
