Located just two hours from Seattle and teeming with wild rainbow and cutthroat trout, the Yakima River runs cold and clear through 75 miles of high timber, sprawling cattle ranches, and rich grasslands. Red tailed hawks, white capped bald eagles, and graceful osprey rule the skies while deer, elk and big horn sheep roam the steep canyon ridges. This is a river that calls to mind the wonder and magic of fly fishing's most memorable moments that were captured in Robert Redford's film, "A River Runs Though It."

In addition to guiding people from around the world, The Evening Hatch is heavily involved in fly-fishing instruction. Our staff teaches fly-fishing on the Yakima River and at nearby Central Washington University, in Ellensburg. With that same commitment to instruction, we conduct many schools for fly shops as well as corporate groups. The Evening Hatch began guiding on the Yakima River in 1990. Originally it was a way to enjoy the river. In 1993 we started to grow incredibly due to the interest in the sport. We decided to strictly be a guide service so that we could put all our efforts into what we do best, and that is to take people fishing and have a great time.
